At Floor Coverings International of Oahu, we love bringing you creative insight and perspectives from bloggers who are kind enough to share their wisdom and how they got started. Today we have an interview with Keri-Anne, lifestyle blogger at Gingerlillytea.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hello, my name is Keri-Anne. I am a blogger, photographer and a dreamer. I love to spend my days on adventures with my husband and two girls or scouting charity and vintage shops for treasure.
Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?
I started my very first blog as a teenager as a way to get out of angst I guess. I then started sharing my early photography and story writing which then progressed into sharing about my children after giving birth to my first daughter. I have been blogging for nearly 15 years and I love it. It has only been recently where I have classed my blog as a source of income and the start of a career. It has helped me develop my photography and gain amazing opportunites.
How would you describe your design style?
I don’t follow any trends and I like to think my style is unique. I am a little bit of a hoarder and love anything that reminds me of my childhood. My walls are filled with botanical prints, flower fairy pictures, hanging lace dresses and flower crowns. I love to create features around the house that inspire me. I love going to car boot sales and vintage shops to find second hand frames and garlands for the house. My girls have a similar style and love to create their own pictures for their walls. I like to think that if you came to my house, you would get a sense of the type of person I am by my wall features.
Where do you find most of your inspiration?
I do love to gain inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram but I love to create unique features so a lot of my inspiration comes from laying out all of my little trinkets and finding ways to curate them together to create something beautiful for the walls. I also love to swap things around for different seasons.
Tell us about a recent project you’re proud of.
I love my craft area in my bedroom. I have an old vintage dresser as my desk and i have filled the two corner walls with woodland creature prints, lace dresses, flower crowns and hanging flower vases. Every time I sit there to work or create, I feel such inspiration and I can never get bored of looking around at the walls. It can take me a while to complete a wall as I love to make sure it is just right and I always start of by just taping up prints in different places and then over the next few days, they seem to just find their own place.
